Rodriguez put together a clutch performance to lead the Raiders to their first win of the 2025 season, throwing a touchdown late in the fourth to bring Rivera within one before running in the go-ahead two-point conversion on the ensuing play.
The plays were just the icing on a big night for the junior signal-caller. He finished 6-of-13 for 121 yards and three touchdowns through the air, and added 151 yards and two scores on 20 carries. He also converted a pair of two-point tries.
Rodriguez’s big night improved the Raiders to 1-1 on the season and marked the first victory of the Johnny Garza era at Brownsville Rivera.
