Five members of the Rivera Raiders boys basketball team have been named to the District 32-5A All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the 2025–2026 season.
The postseason recognition honors student-athletes who excel both on the court and in the classroom, maintaining strong academic performance throughout the season while competing at the varsity level. Representing Rivera with the honor are Ramon Cortina, Santiago Leija, Rene Rodriguez, Cristian Vergara, and Juan "JJ" Gay. The selections highlight the Raiders’ continued emphasis on academic success alongside athletic achievement, recognizing players who have demonstrated dedication, discipline, and commitment to their studies while representing Rivera during the season.
Three Rivera Raiders basketball players—Santiago Leija, Ramon Cortina, and Cristian Vergara—have received Honorable Mention honors in District 32-5A. The recognition highlights their strong play and consistent contributions throughout the season, reflecting the depth of talent and dedication within the Raiders program.
Seniors Angel Montoya and Logan Hinojosa have earned selection to the 2nd Team All-District squad, capping standout careers with the Rivera Raiders. Montoya, a three-year letterman, and Hinojosa, a one-year letterman, competed with relentless energy every night on both ends of the floor. Their engagement, leadership, and exemplary teamwork set a standard for the program. Rivera will deeply miss their presence on and off the court and wishes them nothing but the best in the next chapter of their lives. These two seniors embody the spirit and dedication that define a true Raider.
Montoya has also been selected to the prestigious 32-5A All-Defensive Team, one of only 10 players in the district to receive this distinction. Montoya’s defensive prowess, leadership, and unwavering effort have been instrumental in Rivera’s back-to-back playoff appearances. A player the team could count on in any situation, Montoya has left a lasting mark wearing the Raider uniform. Rivera is proud of his accomplishments and congratulates him on this well-deserved recognition.
Sophomore Reggie Clark has earned 1st Team All-District honors in the highly competitive 32-5A—a distinction that is never given, only earned. Clark led the district with 95 three-pointers and 121 made free throws, ranked 2nd in field goals made (222) and points per game (20.6), and added 2.2 steals and 3.1 rebounds per game. His performance also ranks him top 10 in the state for 5A and #3 among sophomores in three-pointers made. More than the numbers, Clark is the glue of the team, bringing energy, focus, and a relentless work ethic night after night. He embodies the spirit of the program, and Rivera is excited to see what the future holds for this young standout.
