BROWNSVILLE - The 2026 Rivera Raiders Middle School Futures Camp got underway Monday morning as incoming seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade student-athletes gathered at the Rivera Training Facility for the first day of camp.

Campers had the opportunity to learn from the Rivera varsity coaching staff while training alongside current Raider football players, who were also on hand for the final week of their summer strength and conditioning program before the start of the 2026 season.

More than 130 current and future Raiders participated throughout the morning, making for a strong opening day focused on learning, competition, and building the future of Rivera football.

"The turnout on Day 1 was outstanding," Head Coach Johnny Garza said. "Our players came ready to work, competed the right way, and set a strong standard for the rest of camp."

The camp continues Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. There is still room for additional players to join. The camp is open to incoming seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade students from Garcia Middle School and Perkins Middle School.

"If you weren't able to make it today, it's not too late," Garza said. "We'd love to see you tomorrow. Come ready to learn, compete, and be part of what we're building at Rivera Football. Every day is an opportunity to improve, and tomorrow is another chance to get started."
