BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A pair of Rivera Raiders earned KRGV Sports Channel 5 Playmaker Weekly honors following standout performances in Rivera’s victory over St. Joseph Academy.

Juan Garza turned in an explosive all-around performance, accounting for 145 total yards and three touchdowns. One of the biggest plays of the night came on special teams when Garza fielded a St. Joseph onside kick and broke free for an electrifying 50-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Brandon Guerra also played a major role in the Raiders’ offensive success, finishing the night with 117 total yards and two touchdowns.

Together, Garza and Guerra accounted for 262 total yards and five touchdowns, providing Rivera with two of its biggest playmakers in the victory.

Their performances earned both Raiders recognition from KRGV Sports Channel 5 as Playmaker Weekly Award recipients, highlighting another strong showing for the Rivera football program.
